A good show form all the lads who all turned up early to the club as they was all in good spirit from last weeks win. From a managers point of view it was nice to recognise a few faces, Craig Copas Captain supplied the music to psychic everybody up for their warm up. We settled slowly into the game but that does seem to be usual for us. First strike came form David Cohen, striking a good shot at the keeper which seemed to trigger us into action as Connor Mainstone was the next with a testing cross/shot at the keeper. Rob Crysell was next with one of his long throws going straight in the goal from a touch by Connor, but the Referee claimed that he did not touch the ball. This prompted Foxash into action and they hit us on the counter attack making it 1-0 in there favour at half time.
Second half, Barnston came out flying out of the traps, chasing down every ball and making every tackle count in an effort to win the ball back. Dave Smith battled down the sideline applying constant pressure all the way and leading Barnston forward. A move involving the prior mentioned player passing the ball inside Copas who chipped the ball wide to Chinnery who from a pin point cross found Connor which enabled him to score his second goal in as many games and making the scoreline 1-1. We were now starting to dominate the game. However I made a substitution to introduce new signing Ryan for Connor which the referee refused to agree to as he said he had the wrong number on, upon checking the sheet he had the right number on only for the referee to refuse him the opportunity of his debut so Campbell Wilson was introduced instead.
Shortly after this Dave Smith had to retire due to injury and even though the referee was asked again to accept that the paperwork was right and being asked by the opposition to let Ryan go on he still refused so Barnston were down to ten men. More drama to come as Jo Law also had to retire and this left Barnston with nine men on the pitch and the referee refused to admit it was his error. This obviously created a lot of space for the Foxash players to exploit and the tired nine pairs of legs conceded two more goals, the scoreline could have been greater if not for the heroics of the home keeper and man of the match Bradley Simpson . The issue regarding the substitution is to be taken up with the league and we will have to see what they will decide. You have to take positives from every game and although the final score of Barnston AFC 1 Foxash 3 will not reflect that on paper it was due to circumstances beyond our control and does not reflect on the team performance in any way whatsoever and some better finishing on the day may have shown a different result.
